The governance of the lnstitute is divided into several key functions, each with specific responsibilities and competencies.
The Institute Director is responsible for the Institute’s educational and strategic leadership.
His or her functions include developing educational policies, overseeing educational and research activities, and representing the Institute in relations with external institutions.
The Director also ensures that the Institute remains true to its mission and core values by fostering an inclusive and innovative learning environment.
Biography
Eugenio De Caro (b. 1963), is an Italian expert in the field of European project design and management, with a decades-long career spanning both scientific research and teaching in the area of humanities and educational systems development. He currently resides in Melide, near Lugano.
His professional experience is vast and varied. He has been an external evaluator for the European Commission and the Ministry of Education of Belgium-Wallonia-Fédération Wallonie-Brussels and has held managerial roles in numerous projects funded by European programs such as Creative Europe and Erasmus Plus. Among his recent assignments, De Caro has worked as a planner and project manager for such prestigious organizations as the Sicily Foundation, University of Avignon, Association of Young European Musicians Trieste, GRAIA S.r.l., Italian General Association of the Performing Arts (AGIS), University of Milan, and IULM Free University of Languages and Communication in Milan.
In addition to his project management activities, Eugenio De Caro is a renowned university lecturer. In 2014, he acquired at the Ministry of Research of the Republic of Italy the eligibility as a professor of II fascia for the concurrency sector 11/C4 Aesthetics and Philosophy of Languages, having taught at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart (Brescia and Milan campuses) at the Theological Faculty of Northern Italy, at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brescia SantaGiulia and at the Machina Lonati Fashion and Design Institute of Brescia. Currently, he teaches European project planning to PhD students at IULM University in Milan.
De Caro also has a strong academic background. He holds a Ph. in Historical and Theoretical Problems of Philosophical Anthropology at the University of Parma (discussing a Thesis on “The Anthropology of Carl Gustav Jung”) and a B.A. in Philosophy at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan. He has published seven monographic volumes, more than fifty scholarly articles and contributions in collected volumes, focusing mainly on topics in aesthetics, philosophical anthropology and communication.
Recently, his expertise in the internationally recognized field of European planning has enabled him to found and direct the Master School in European Project Planning (ASPE), where he trains new generations of European planners.
With a career that effectively combines project management, university teaching and applied scientific research, Eugenio De Caro represents a leading figure in the cultural and creative industries landscape in Europe.
The Executive Committee is the Institute’s main decision-making body, responsible for overseeing strategic operations and resource management.
Composed of key members from the administration and teaching area, the Executive Committee meets regularly to discuss and approve institutional policies, plan future development, and monitor the effectiveness of The Institute’s activities.
The Director of Education is responsible for designing and implementing the institution’s curriculum.
This figure coordinates faculty and practice activities, ensuring that the curriculum meets the highest professional and academic standards and remains current and innovative.
To ensure academic excellence, External Teaching Evaluation Committees, composed of independent experts, periodically assess the quality of teaching activities.
These committees provide an external and impartial perspective, contributing to the continuous improvement of the institution’s educational practices.
The Ethics Committee plays a crucial role in ensuring that all activities of The Institute are conducted according to strict ethical principles.
It reviews research protocols, educational practices, and community interactions to ensure compliance with human rights and applicable regulations.
The Ethics Committee contributes to an environment of integrity and accountability.
Our institute is dedicated to promoting excellence in research through a well-defined and integrated structure.
The Scientific Committee on Research (CSR), chaired by the Institute Director and composed of Research Center Directors and experts selected for their expertise, manages and evaluates research activities, ensuring consistency and innovation.
To ensure the highest quality and objectivity, the SRC is supported by the External Research Assessment Committee.
These independent experts provide an external and unbiased perspective, helping to maintain high academic standards and continuously improve the institute’s research practices.
The Director of Operations is responsible for the administrative and operational management of The Institute.
This key figure ensures that all daily operations are carried out efficiently and that resources are used optimally.
The Director of Operations works closely with the Institute Director to ensure that teaching and administrative strategies are aligned.
The Quality Assurance Office ensures the high quality standards of the teaching, administrative and research activities of The Institute. It is responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures to keep curricula up-to-date and improve teaching methodologies. His main responsibilities include conducting internal audits, collecting and analyzing student feedback, and working with external evaluation committees. It also promotes a culture of quality through staff training and support.
The year 2024 represents a watershed year for the Institute, marked by the selection of a new Institute Director by public notice. The three-year strategic planning approved by the Executive Committee includes institutional consolidation, with the drafting of an organic and coherent order, and improvement of teaching, with a focus on students’ exit skills. Another goal is to strengthen the quality system by establishing quality policies and implementing a monitoring and control system. In addition, the plan aims to activate an applied research system, with research centers focusing on vectors of innovation related to professional fields.
